The Wellbeing in the Pharmacy course has been designed to assist pharmacists and pharmacy staff boost their level of wellbeing, and that of their teams. Retail Pharmacy is a fertile ground for burnout. Commonly quoted concerns include a heavily regulated environment, excessive documentation, demanding customers and patients, long hours, prolonged periods of concentration, and staffing shortages. Pharmacists spend their days looking after the health and wellbeing of others, but ironically it is often at the expense of their own!
1. Introduction to Wellbeing
What exactly is Wellbeing and how can you improve it? Is there a format, toolbox, or roadmap you can follow? What does the science say and what does it mean for you?
2. The Power of Positive Emotions
Learn to use the power of positive emotions and discover how your mood affects your performance and that of your colleagues.
3. The Science of Mindfulness
Mindfulness is a way of paying attention to the present moment.
Being mindful can boost our concentration, improve our relationships, and help with stress.
4. Building Quality Relationships
Learn highly practical approaches to developing and maintaining quality relationships. Discover how to positively connect with others in effective & enjoyable ways.
5. Discover and Apply Your Strengths
Learn how to identify and amplify your strengths and those of your team to increase levels of engagement and find more meaning and satisfaction in your daily work and life.
6. The Joy of Movement
It is impossible to have a wellbeing plan that doesn’t include physical activity and movement. Learn about how your body is wired and get inspired to get moving.
This course is held over six evening sessions via online workshops led by an expert tutor. This course is highly interactive and uses presentations, individual and group exercises, and discussions. It centres around a science-backed, research-based model of wellbeing, detailing tools and techniques that are simple, straightforward, and easy to implement in even the busiest of retail pharmacy environments. Learners will need a computer/ laptop and a set of earphones or headset to attend.
The course runs for six weeks, with sessions held each Tuesday evening from 8.00pm – 9.30pm, commencing 3 February 2026.
Participants who complete the course will receive an IPU Professional Academy Certificate of Completion.
The cost of this course is €299 for learners working for IPU members; or €499 for learners working for non-members.
