Clare Fitzell, IPU Secretary General, was pleased to attend the official opening of McQuaid’s Pharmacy’s new premises in Oldcastle on Friday, 24 April. The event marked an important milestone for Donna McQuaid and her team following the devastating fire in December and stood as a testament to her resilience and determination to continue serving the local community.
There was an exceptional turnout on the day, with residents gathering in large numbers, reflecting the deep goodwill and appreciation for Donna and her colleagues. A strong sense of community spirit was evident throughout, with many acknowledging the essential role the pharmacy has played in Oldcastle over the past 25 years. The excellent weather further enhanced the occasion, contributing to a warm and celebratory atmosphere.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was performed by Noeline Mullen Dunne, the last surviving child of Patrick Mullen, who first opened the premises 110 years ago. This rich heritage was fittingly reflected in the beautifully restored frontage of the premises.
