Caitríona Duggan has been appointed President of the Irish Pharmaceutical Healthcare Association (IPHA) for a two-year term. Ms Duggan has worked with Amgen Ireland for 20 years and has been its Country Director since 2018. She has also played an active role in IPHA for the past decade. Eimear Caslin, General Manager of GSK Ireland, has been appointed Vice-President.
The appointment coincides with new nationally representative research, commissioned by IPHA and conducted by Ipsos B&A, which found that 90% of people believe timely access to the latest medicines and treatments is essential to an effective health service. The research also found that 78% support greater Government investment in adult vaccination programmes.
Commenting on her appointment, Ms Duggan said: “I am taking on the IPHA presidency with a clear ambition: that Ireland should be a country where patients can benefit from medical innovation in a timely way, supported by a strong and globally competitive life sciences sector.”
