The Patient Advocacy Service (PAS) has launched new Easy Read Information leaflets to enhance the accessibility of their service to nursing home residents. The leaflets, which will be available in both English and Irish, help explain the Patient Advocacy Service in an accessible, easy to understand format. The PAS is a free, independent, and confidential service that supports patients in making complaints and navigating healthcare issues in Ireland. It is fully funded by the Department of Health and operates independently of the HSE.
They have also developed an Easy Read Data Protection Consent form to ensure that people who need the support of the Patient Advocacy Service understand fully how their information is collected and used. The Easy Read leaflets are an addition to the information leaflets that the Patient Advocacy Service already have available for public acute hospitals and public and private nursing homes.
