Home » Healthpromotion.ie: A resource for community pharmacies
Healthpromotion.ie is the HSE’s national online platform allowing community pharmacies to access and order materials such as posters, leaflets and other assets to support health promotion. Many assets are also available in a format which can be downloaded. The platform is part of the HSE Health and Wellbeing function, providing up-to-date, evidence-based resources to support public health campaigns which pharmacies are involved in such as vaccination, men’s health and sexual health including the National Condom Distribution Service (NCDS).
Pharmacies can use the platform to:
Once you have a healthpromotion.ie account, resources can be ordered using the following steps:
If an item is unavailable, it will show as ‘Out of Stock’ and display zero availability. Stock can be reordered once it has been replenished by the HSE. Delivery typically takes five working days, however restricted items (such as NCDS stock) may take longer as orders must be reviewed before release. There is no cost associated with delivery.
Healthpromotion.ie offers a range of general resources which may support pharmacies in day-to-day communication and public awareness. These include the following:
As part of the Community Pharmacy Agreement 2025 (CPA) community pharmacies will support agreed public health campaigns each year. Healthpromotion.ie contains a wealth of resources available to enable pharmacists to support public awareness and engagement on upcoming campaigns through displaying, distribution and signposting. A significant public health campaign which community pharmacies will collaborate with the HSE Health and Wellbeing in promoting in June, from 15-21, is Men’s Health Week 2026. Printed posters and leaflets will be available to order two weeks prior to the commencement of this campaign through healthpromotion.ie (materials have also been supplied with this issue of the IPU Review).
The IPU have developed a hub to support pharmacies with the National Public Health Campaigns. It can be found at the National Public Health Campaigns Hub.
Services such as the NCDS are facilitated through healthpromotion.ie. The NCDS provides free condoms and lubricant sachets to approved pharmacies for distribution to patients as part of the National Sexual Health Strategy.
This service was expanded to community pharmacies through CPA25 and the rollout has commenced on a phased basis. To assist with the operational implementation of this service pharmacies will be onboarded over eight phases on a month-by-month basis. For each phase, the relevant pharmacies will receive a letter of invitation from the HSE notifying them that they are now eligible to apply. As part of the application, pharmacies are required to provide an email address linked to an active healthpromotion.ie account. Once a pharmacy applies, the application is reviewed and approved. Following approval of the application by the HSE Sexual Health programme, pharmacies can then place orders on Healthpromotion.ie for condoms, lubricant sachets, leaflets and display boxes.
To get approved to order NCDS resources, pharmacies must:
1. Be invited to apply: This is done in phases, grouped geographically;
2. Complete the application form: Usually within four weeks of receiving the invitation;
3. Be reviewed and approved by the HSE Sexual Health Programme: Once approved, pharmacies can order NCDS stock;
4. Access healthpromotion.ie: Pharmacies can register or log in. NCDS stock is visible once the HSE grants access;
5. Order NCDS Stock: Approved pharmacies can order:
6. Provide one-to-one consultations: Condoms and lubricants can be supplied following a one-to-one consultation with a pharmacist related to sexual health; and
7. Perform storage and quality checks: This includes:
The IPU have developed a Hub to support pharmacy access to the NCDS. It can be found at the HSE National Condom Distribution Service Hub.
