At the FIP Council Meeting held in Montreal, Canada on 29 August Lars-Ake Söderlund (Sweden) was elected as FIP president-elect (2026-2027), whereafter he will become FIP president (2027-2031).

Lars-Åke Söderlund is an internationally recognised pharmacy leader with more than 40 years of service to the profession and over three decades of leadership within the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP). Since joining FIP in 1984, he has contributed continuously to the Federation’s mission, governance, and global influence. He recently served as Vice President (2021–2025) and Chair of the Working Group for the FIP Strategic Plan 2025–2030, giving him direct responsibility for shaping FIP’s future direction and implementation pathway. The IPU wishes him every success in his new role.
