IPU Secretary General, Clare Fitzell, joined Minister for Health Jennifer Carroll MacNeill and pharmacist and IPU Member, Lorcan Macken, in celebrating the 75th anniversary of Macken’s Pharmacy, Blackrock. The event highlighted the pharmacy’s proud history of serving the local community across two generations of the Macken family.
In her address, the Minister spoke warmly about the vital role pharmacies play in communities, recognising pharmacists as trusted medicine experts and an essential part of patient care. Ms Fitzell highlighted the profession’s expanding role, including the successful rollout of the Common Conditions Service and strong pharmacist engagement in delivering enhanced patient services. Mr Macken provided a fascinating history of the pharmacy, and the large attendance reflected the deep connection and trust the pharmacy has built within the Blackrock community over 75 years.
The IPU congratulates Mr Macken on this remarkable milestone, and wishes everyone at Mackens Pharmacy every success for the years ahead.
