LAIV
The NIO has produced a toolkit to support pharmacies intending to operate an LAIV clinic off-site; this should be read along with the PSI guidance documents prior to offering this service. This service can only be provided by a pharmacist employed or engaged by a registered retail pharmacy business.
You will need to carefully consider several issues including informed consent, eligibility criteria, insurance, public liability, risk assessments, appropriate staffing levels and GDPR considerations.

Consent
Consent for Vaccination – under 16 years
Dr Siobhain Ni Bhrian, National Clinical Director for Integrated Care HSE, discusses consent for people under 16 years. Although developed for COVID-19 the content is relevant for all vaccine administration including flu. The same principles can be followed when gathering consent for delivering a vaccination service in a school setting where consent from a child’s parent/guardian should be sought in advance of the vaccination clinic.
