Pointy

The IPU agreed an affinity deal with Pointy, an Irish company recently acquired by Google that aims to make it easy for customers to find the products they are looking for locally. Pointy’s service allows pharmacies to easily display their front of shop and OTC products online. With Pointy, if someone in your area searches for a product online, the search results will show that product is available in your pharmacy – thus encouraging customers to visit your pharmacy instead. During this COVID-19 situation, Pointy has agreed to make their service available to IPU members for free.

Once registered, pharmacies will be sent a free Pointy box, which normally costs €729, which you plug in between the barcode scanner and the EPOS. As products are scanned at the register, they are automatically added to an online product catalogue called a Pointy Page so that shoppers can check what’s in stock before visiting the pharmacy.
