Pharmacy students from the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland (RCSI) displayed excellent business case presentations to a team of judges as part of their year-five professional leadership module, on 29 November. Among the judges was IPU Professional Services Pharmacist, Susan O’Donnell. The event was held in the Albert Lecture Theatre in the old RCSI Building on St Stephen’s Green, Dublin, and involved nine teams.
Each team comprised of six students who each gave a ten-minute presentation. The students’ presentations were on developing, managing, operating, financing, risk management and marketing a novel clinical pharmacy service. The range of concepts varied greatly from a travel health clinic to a wart removal service. Congratulations to the winners of the prizes and all the students for their hard work. Their excellent presentation standards and ability to answer tough questions from the panel was testament to the quality of the training provided.
Both the IPU and McAuley Pharmacy Group provided prizes on the day. Ms O’Donnell said, “The standard of concepts and overall service delivery plans were incredibly high. Each group presented with confidence and demonstrated the huge level of consideration that had been given to each service, including the patient outcomes and financial viability”.
