A delegation from the IPU held an introductory meeting with the new Minister for Health, Jennifer Carroll MacNeill TD, and her officials on 11 February. This initial engagement focused on understanding the Minister’s priorities for primary healthcare, particularly in relation to pharmacy, while also outlining the IPU’s key objectives for community pharmacy. The meeting proved highly productive, with meaningful discussions on the essential role of community pharmacy, as well as the opportunities and challenges facing pharmacists. The IPU delegation also took the opportunity to present their vision for the future of community pharmacy, emphasising the necessary enablers to support expanded roles, as recommended by the Expert Taskforce.
