The 2025 IPU National Pharmacy Conference will take place on the 10 May in one of Kilkenny’s finest hotels, the Lyrath Estate Hotel, providing a stunning setting for this year’s event. With less than 12 weeks until we meet in Kilkenny the planning and fine tuning is now in full swing.
‘Navigating the Evolving Role of Community Pharmacy – Getting the Balance Right’ is this year’s theme, featuring a stellar lineup of expert speakers delivering industry insights and engaging debates on a wide range of topics that directly impact the daily lives of community pharmacists.
The format of the day will feature a dynamic agenda and lineup of individual speakers, panel discussions, and the highly anticipated Great Debate in the afternoon. The hot topics to be covered will include medicine shortages, pharmacy workforce, and the impact of AI on our industry.Proceedings will be ably managed on the day by our MC, Conall O Móráin. Mr O Móráin is a prominent business broadcaster, MC, and podcaster. Following the welcome from the IPU President, we will have the renowned Dr Ronan Glynn, Health Sector Leader at EY, a physiotherapist and medical doctor and former Deputy Chief Medical Officer at the Department of Health during COVID-19 deliver our keynote address.
In addition, we will have Darren Stephens, SVP and Commercial Lead UKI, EU and Strategic Partnerships at Radiobotics, delivering his talk on ‘Transforming Community Care with Lessons from Radiology and Emergency Medicine’. A new panel discussion format will follow this, which will focus on medicine shortages, and the panel will have representatives from Medicines for Ireland (MFI), the Irish Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Association (IPHA), and Affordable Medicines Ireland (AMI).
‘Pharmacy Workforce Sustainability’ should provide plenty of discussion for our second panel just before we break for lunch, this will have representatives from the PSI and the Irish Pharmaceutical Student Association (IPSA), to name just a few.
Following the lunch break, we will have Dr Harry Barry present his motivational talk on ‘Self Care and Emotional Resilience.’ Dr Barry is a regular contributor to national media and a highly respected Irish author and medic, with over three decades of experience as a GP.
We will then recharge with a coffee break before we all reconvene for a rousing Great Debate, where we will encourage people to interact with the panellists.
Finally, attendees will also have plenty of opportunities to network with peers and explore the diverse range of companies supporting the pharmacy sector in our Exhibition Hall throughout the day. As always, we would like to thank all our generous sponsors and exhibitors for their continued support, without which the conference would not be the great success that it has come to be over the years.
The evening’s entertainment will kick off at 7.00pm with pre-dinner drinks followed by the President’s Dinner at 8.00pm (black-tie event) and musical entertainment to close off the night.
