As detailed in the October IPU Review, the Community Pharmacy Agreement 2025 was formally published on 18 September. This landmark Agreement builds on the current community pharmacy contract and lays the foundation for a sustainable, expanded role for community pharmacy across Ireland. It reflects a shared commitment among the IPU, the Department of Health and the HSE to support enhanced services, greater integration into the health system, smarter use of digital tools, and a more efficient regulatory environment.
We now turn the page from negotiation to implementation — this Agreement is not an endpoint but a beginning. Over the months and years ahead, we will work collaboratively to deliver on its promises, expand pharmacists’ contribution to patient care, and ensure that community pharmacy plays a central role in the future of Irish healthcare.
