LAIV Supply
The NIO has advised that orders for LAIV stock remain open, and it is anticipated that sites will be able to order the remainder of their allocations for delivery from 21 October onwards, as per their NCCS delivery schedules. Orders will continue in two weekly cycles.
HSE PharmaVax Off-site Vaccination Functionality
New functionality to record influenza vaccinations administered at locations outside your pharmacy, such as primary schools has now been introduced on HSE Pharmavax. A feature has been included in the ‘Add Vaccination’ screen for influenza vaccinations, enabling you to input a temporary location. After selecting a client and choosing influenza as the vaccination type, you can now search for and select the Facility ID, Name, Address, or School Roll Number in the vaccination details section. The HSE requests that this field be completed when providing offsite vaccinations in a school setting.
NIAC Immunisation Guidelines. Chapter 2. General immunisation Procedures
NIAC published an updated Immunisation Guidelines Chapter 02. General Immunisation Procedures. The changes include advice relating to:
- Immunisation schedule;
- Immunisation of specific groups -including COVID-19, RSV and zoster vaccines;
- Vaccine preparation and administration; and
- Medical care during and after vaccination.
NIO Immunisation Bulletin No. 72
The HSE National Immunisation Office has issued Immunisation Bulletin No.72. This edition covers information and updates in relation to the following topics:
- The New Primary Childhood Immunisation Programme (PCIP);
- MenC vaccine changes in the schedule;
- Varicella (chickenpox) vaccine introduction to PCIP;
- Hib/MenC vaccine replacement; and
- Information materials and website updates available for the new PCIP Schedule.

GSK Shingles Disease Awareness Campaign
GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) is running a shingles disease awareness campaign. The campaign which is taking place across Radio, TV and Outdoor channels aims to increase awareness of shingles disease by highlighting who is at risk, the signs and symptoms of shingles, and its impact on quality of life.
The public will be advised to visit www.understandingshingles.ie and speak with their pharmacist or other healthcare professional for more information.
