LAIV Schools Programme 2024/2025
The HSE issued a communication encouraging Community Pharmacies who wish to engage in the LAIV Schools Programme to reach out to mainstream primary schools to explore offering LAIV on-site. The communication can be read here.
Community Pharmacies who have agreed to offer an LAIV service on-site at a mainstream primary school are asked to provide the HSE with details of the school using the Schools LAIV Template excel sheet which is accessible on the HSE Vaccination Primary Care Contractors (VPCC) Team LAIV Schools Programme Planning 2024/2025 webpage.
The provision of LAIV to primary school aged children, those aged 2-12 years, is a key public health priority. The HSE has advised that further plans in relation to the 2024/25 Flu Vaccination Programme, including confirmation of the eligible cohorts, has not yet been finalised. There has been no confirmation around the recommendation for those children aged 13–17 years. Further information will be provided by the HSE in the coming months.
