HIQA public consultation on shingles vaccine for adults

HIQA has launched a public consultation on its draft health technology assessment (HTA) of shingles (herpes zoster) vaccination for adults. Following the public consultation, the report will be updated as necessary and a finalised report will be submitted as advice to the Minister for Health, and published on the HIQA website.

The draft findings were published to give members of the public an opportunity to provide feedback on the content. The IPU intends to provide feedback on this draft HTA to HIQA and individual members may also do so. Feedback can be submitted online here.

The consultation will remain open until 5pm on Tuesday, 30 April 2024.

Comirnaty® BA.4-5 COVID-19 Primary Course Payments

HSE PCRS has informed the IPU of a payment issue that occurred when Comirnaty® BA.4-5 was recorded on HSE PharmaVax as a COVID-19 Primary Course Vaccination between 21 April 2023 and 14 September 2023. In April 2023 Comirnaty® BA.4-5 was approved for Primary Course Vaccinations, until then it had only been approved for booster doses. While HSE PharmaVax allowed for these primary course vaccinations to be recorded accurately, the system did not trigger a primary course payment. The issue has been resolved and members will receive payment for these vaccinations in the next payment cycle.
