Members under the administrative area of LHO Limerick have been contacted by the Hardship Department in relation to approval process documentation. Going forward, they were asked to get patients and GPs’ signatures before submitting the HD1 forms. We have written to the PCRS outlining that this is a breach of current regulations in place.
Until a new circular is issued to community pharmacies regarding third party verification, PCRS advised that HSE PCRS Circular 10/20 remains the current position and they are not enforcing the signatures. However, PCRS do intend to reinstate this as it was only a temporary measure to set aside the signatures due to the pandemic. This could be incorporated into a new circular regarding administrative arrangements which will be shared with the IPU first.
We will strongly object to reinstatement of third party verification as part of the additional administrative requirements for pharmacies and we have voiced our concerns with PCRS on this matter. We will continue to work on ways to look for alternative solutions.
