Survey highlights factors behind community pharmacist shortage

A new IPU survey shines a light on the issue of manpower shortages within the sector. Larry Ryan of Behaviours & Attitudes analyses the findings of the survey and what they mean for community pharmacy.

Following on from previous research in 2019, the Irish Pharmacy Union undertook an extensive workforce survey, which was completed by pharmacists registered with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI). In line with the previous research, those who were not members of the IPU were also asked to participate, with the PSI facilitating this
through their newsletter, ultimately with a view to achieving as representative a sample as possible.
