Social prescribing acknowledges that the health and wellbeing of members of the public are heavily determined by social factors such as poverty, isolation, and loneliness. As a healthcare professional, you can support the health and wellbeing of your patients by referring them to a range of non-clinical community supports which can have significant benefits for their overall health and wellbeing.
More information about social prescribing and HSE-funded Social Prescribing services are available on the HSE website. You may also find the HSE Talking Health and Wellbeing Podcast, Episode 8 – Social Prescribing useful, which is available here.
