At the end of March, the PCRS issued approximately 700 letters to contractors advising them that they would be recouping money from their April payments for apparent overpayment of phased dispensing fees.
The letter seeking the recoupment was not very clear and did not offer a breakdown of how the proposed recoupment was determined. We advised you on receipt of these letters to contact the PCRS seeking a breakdown of how the alleged overpayment was determined.
The PCRS has been providing additional details to those pharmacies who had requested and are reviewing clarification provided by pharmacies once received. The HSE has confirmed that in some cases there was a genuine explanation, so our strong advice is to request this detailed breakdown prior to making any recoupment.
The PCRS has agreed to extend the deadline to May to allow further time for pharmacies to check.
