Tom Murray, IPU President, was interviewed by the Irish Examiner: “Our professional is ready and excited to implement new changes like independent prescribing powers, the provision of a service for common clinical conditions service and enhanced contraception care, but we need adequate resources, including an increase in our dispensing fee.”
The IPU issued a press release calling for a nationwide national Disposal of Unused Medicines Properly (DUMP) scheme to be established to limit what it describes as serious health and environmental risks. This topic was covered in The Sun.
The IPU was mentioned in an article in The Irish Times about a survey that shows that pharmacists are dispensing unlicensed medications due to medicine shortages in the State.
