Starting from 1 September pharmacists will be able to extend six-month prescriptions up to a maximum of 12 months where appropriate for that patient. Derek Reilly, IPU Secretary General (Acting) was quoted on RTÉ saying that “the act of reviewing a medication and determining if it is clinically appropriate to extend must be funded appropriately.” This topic was also covered in the Irish Independent, Irish Daily Mirror, The Sun, and Irish Medical Times.

Kathy Maher, Chair of the IPU PCC Committee, was on Prime Time – RTÉ (from 18 minutes), discussing the illegal sale of Botox and prescription medicine widely available in Ireland. This topic was also covered on the RTÉ website and in the Irish News.
