There are many sound-alike or look alike drugs that could result in medication errors. These groups of medicines are commonly referred to as SALADs (Sound Alike Look Alike Drugs) or LASA (Look-alike/Sound-alike) medications.

To support pharmacists in identifying LASA medication errors and putting corrective and preventative measures in place to prevent medication harm, the WHO launched the publication ‘Medication Safety for Look-alike, Sound-alike Medicines’ on 20 October 2023.
