On Wednesday, an adult with the first confirmed case of measles in Ireland this year died in the Dublin and Midlands Health Region. In light of this, the HSE National Immunisation Office has updated material on their website to include additional information about Measles and the MMR vaccine. The homepage www.immunisation.ie has also been updated to put MMR information in the 1st box to also help to signpost people to information. The MMR vaccine, which is safe and effective, protects against measles cases and outbreaks. Two doses of MMR vaccine are needed for a child to be fully protected.
