Early Payment
Electronic claims need to be received by the PCRS by midnight on the 3rd working day of each month, Wednesday 5 July.
Normal Payment
Electronic claims need to be received by the PCRS by midnight on the 7th day of each month, Friday 7 July.
In order to qualify for payment, you will need to manually submit Methadone claims either on or before the 10th day of each month, Monday, 10 July, as they are not processed electronically.
Submission of Paperwork
As previously advised, 100 pharmacies will be randomly selected each month to submit their ‘yellow bag’. If your pharmacy is selected, you will be contacted by Healthmail and notified that you must submit your paperwork (yellow bag) at the end of the month. The deadline for the receipt of supporting paperwork will be outlined in the email sent by the PCRS and usually is by 5pm on the 5th day of the month. In the event that this deadline falls on a Saturday/Sunday/Public Holiday, supporting paperwork should be received by PCRS on the next working day. As is currently the situation, pharmacies are not required to attach the invoices to the UCFs in their end of month bundle. For exceptional items, pharmacies may be required to scan and submit supporting documentation by Healthmail to PCRS.PPUInvoices@hse.ie with the GMS pharmacy number and contact details clearly identified.
This has been in place since the introduction of the COVID-19 Emergency Administrative Arrangements.
Please note that, while this is in place for what now is an extended trial period, there is no requirement for third party verification. The circular from the PCRS can be viewed here. We are trying to reach a permanent solution whereby we reduce the administrative burden on pharmacies, while at the same time recognising the State’s fiduciary role in monitoring compliance.
