IPU Letter to NMIC – Clinical Query Answering Service

Resources

The IPU has written to the NMIC requesting the reinstatement of the clinical query answering service, which had been limited to prescribers only from January 2020. A key recommendation from the Expert Taskforce is the development of pharmacist prescribing, starting with the Common Conditions Scheme (CCS) and progressing toward full independent prescribing. It is vital that pharmacists have access to comprehensive, up-to-date clinical information via the NMIC to ensure patient safety.  The NMIC has responded positively to the IPU letter and hope to discuss this further with the HSE Chief Clinical Officer.
