In February 2022, the Department of the Taoiseach removed the mandatory requirement to wear face coverings.

However, the public health advice at the time and still in place is  that face masks or face coverings should continue to be worn on public transport and in healthcare settings (including pharmacies).

The IPU Infection Prevention and Control Hub has the most up to date HSE infection prevention and control guidance available, including:

  • Interim guidance to minimise the risk of transmission of COVID-19 infection in Community Pharmacies V8 10.08.22;
  • Current recommendations for the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic 8 2.06.2022.
