The “Dementia: Understand Together” campaign, a partnership between the HSE, Alzheimer Society of Ireland (ASI), Age Friendly Ireland, the Dementia Services Information and Development Centre, Age & Opportunity, and Healthy Ireland, are promoting the use of a newly developed dementia inclusive community symbol.
Created with people with dementia at its heart, it is anticipated that the symbol will help to raise awareness for dementia and show support for more than 64,000 people living with the condition in Ireland. By displaying the symbol, businesses and organisations send a strong message that people with dementia are valued and respected members of our communities. Order your toolkit here.
Before displaying the symbol, there are some main questions you should ask yourself. Find out how to get involved by clicking here. After that, you can order your toolkit here.
More than 40 partners and over 600 community champions nationally are taking action to help support people with dementia, such as completing awareness training or carrying out walkability and accessibly audits of premises.
