PCRS issued Circular 028/23 regarding a single Managed Access Protocol (MAP) for Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) systems due to the budget impact of these products. An updated circular is due to be issued this week. The MAP will be introduced from 1 December. Historic patients (those currently in receipt of CGM sensors) will have been captured through claims reimbursement and will show as approved.
Approval can be confirmed through the online Secure Schemes Checker under ‘Patient Specific Arrangements’. If you are unsure that a patient has approval, you can contact PCRS to confirm. Claims for CGMs should only be processed and submitted where approval is in place. The Medicines Management Programme (MMP) has published an FAQ available here on the website.
