Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CPCC) Display of Price Reduction Guidelines

The European Union (Requirements to Indicate Product Prices) (Amendment) Regulations 2022 (Amending Product Pricing Regulations) was introduced on 29 November 2022, requiring businesses in Ireland to have in place certain obligations around the advertising and display of price reductions. As the enforcement body for these regulations the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) has been engaging with businesses to inform them of their obligations and created a number of resources, including a guidance booklet and a set of regularly updated online FAQs, to assist businesses in adapting to the regulations.

As the CCPC are now moving from an engagement stage to a monitoring stage with sales pricing now an enforcement priority for them we would strongly recommend that you read the guidelines which you can access here and examples of concerning practices which you can access here.
