Community Pharmacies Support Men to Take ‘One Step at a Time’ During Men’s Health Week 2026

Irish pharmacies are encouraging men to take simple, practical steps to improve their health this Men’s Health Week

IPU, 12 June 2026: Community pharmacies across Ireland are supporting this year’s Men’s Health Week (MHW) which runs from Monday, 15 June to Sunday, 21 June 2026, by encouraging men and boys to take small, manageable steps to improve their health.

The theme for Men’s Health Week this year, ‘One Step at a Time’, focuses on making steady progress rather than striving for perfection. It recognises that for many men, the idea of improving their health can feel overwhelming, and instead promotes simple, realistic actions as a starting point.

With this in mind, community pharmacies are highlighting the role they can play in helping men take that first step. As accessible and trusted healthcare providers, pharmacies offer a convenient and informal setting where men can seek advice and begin to engage with their health.

“Pharmacists and their teams are already supporting men every day in communities across Ireland,” said IPU spokesperson Tom Murray.

“We know that many men may delay acting on their health, but often, all it takes is a small step to get started. Whether it’s checking your blood pressure, asking a question, or getting advice on lifestyle changes, pharmacies provide an easy and approachable place to begin.

“This year’s message is clear, you don’t need to do everything at once. Taking one small step can make a real difference, and community pharmacies are here to support men at every stage of that journey,” he said.

Men continue to experience poorer health outcomes than women across many key indicators and are more likely to delay seeking care. Encouraging men to take early, practical actions, and making those first steps easier to access, is an important part of improving outcomes.

During Men’s Health Week, pharmacies are encouraging men to start with one simple action and build from there, with pharmacists and their teams available to offer guidance, reassurance, and support in a local and accessible setting.
