PI and DPR products to be reimbursable under the community drug schemes require a GMS reimbursement number. Importers of these products must apply to the HSE Products Committee to obtain a specific GMS number for each parallel imported product. When approved, the PI or DPR product is included on the GMS List of Reimbursable Items with a new code number to distinguish it from the originator product. Codes can be checked on the IPU Product File to see if a particular PI or DPR product has a GMS code. If a PI or DPR product does not have a GMS code, you should not supply it on community drug schemes.
