Every year, the IPU engages Behaviour & Attitudes to carry out a comprehensive survey of the public to ascertain their attitudes towards pharmacists and pharmacies and their usage of the services offered in pharmacies. The objective of the survey is to provide up to date and statistically accurate information about the public’s usage of and attitudes to pharmacies, to explore topical issues, and to provide comparison with other elements of the health system, such as general practitioners, hospitals and so forth. The questionnaire has gradually evolved but retains a central core of questions that have remained consistent from survey to survey. The results of this year’s report make particularly interesting reading as the research covers the impact of the changing economic climate and the results are reflective of the environment that pharmacies have been operating in during this time.
