Flu Vaccine Update from PCRS

As you are aware, the HSE has confirmed that the following cohorts can avail of the free HSE vaccine and pharmacies will be remunerated for the vaccine administration.

  • All those aged 6-23 months and 13-64 years in an at-risk group, regardless of their eligibility status, can receive the QIV vaccine and have it administered free of charge;
  • All those aged 65 years and over, regardless of whether they are in an at-risk group and regardless of their eligibility status, can receive the QIV vaccine and have it administered free of charge; and
  • All healthy children aged 2-12 years, regardless of whether they are in an at-risk group and regardless of their eligibility status, can receive the LAIV vaccine (or QIV if contraindicated) and have it administered free of charge. The following fee rates will apply for administration of the flu vaccine to the above cohorts:

  • €15 per QIV plus €100 for every 10 unique patients (average of €25 per patient); and
  • €20 per LIAV for children aged 2-12 years plus €150 for every 10 unique patients (average of €35 per patient).

We have been informed by the PCRS that they are on track to pay either €15/€20 depending on the vaccination type for valid claims input in September with October’s payment. However, development is still underway on the incentivised payment which could be delayed until the October payment. Should that happen we are assured the incentivised payment will be made in November 2020. We will continue to liaise with the PCRS and keep you appraised of developments.
