Vitamin D: Scientific Recommendations for 5 to 65 Year Olds Living in Ireland

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) have published a report on vitamin D recommendations for people aged between 5 and 65 years in Ireland. The publication discusses how people aged 5 – 65 years can achieve optimal vitamin D intakes for long term health. In addition to advice regarding food sources the report also recommends food supplements for all those aged between 5 and 65 in particular teenagers, pregnant women and people of dark-skinned ethnicity who are at highest risk of vitamin D deficiency.
The report will now inform the Department of Health’s national guidelines on how to achieve optimal vitamin D nutrition in people aged 5 – 65 years. Further information is available on the FSAI website.
