Vaccination Services Update

HSE PharmaVax
HSE PharmaVax
To ensure patient records are maintained as accurate and up to date on the national vaccination records system, it is important that the immunocompromised status of each patient is recorded correctly on each vaccine administration, as the status of many patients will change over time. To that end HSE PharmaVax is currently being updated for the autumn winter vaccination campaign so that community pharmacists will be able to:
- View the immunocompromised status of a patient through the ‘vaccination history search’ function; and
- Update the current immunocompromised status of the patient at time of vaccination.
To update the current immunocompromised status of the patient at time of vaccination HSE PharmaVax will now have an additional mandatory field entitled ‘Immunocompromised (IC) Assessment’ which must be reviewed to either confirm or update the immunocompromised status of the patient. This ‘Immunocompromised (IC) Assessment’ field is currently available in the ‘Vaccination Search History’ section of Pharmavax and will be added to the ‘Add Vaccination’ section in the coming days. Detailed guidance on how to interact with this detail on Pharmavax will be published over the coming days.
Other Pharmavax updates that are scheduled in the coming days include:
- Recording of new at-risk grouping for COVID-19 vaccine administrations; and
- Enabling the vaccination history search which displays administration records for Comirnaty® Omicron XBB.1.5 30mcg between HSE Pharmavax and COVAX systems.
We will notify you once relevant updates have been implemented and, where relevant, when supporting guidance has been issued.

Shingles Vaccination Records
Pharmacists can record the administration of a shingles vaccine for a patient with a Personal Public Services Number (PPSN) in the “Pharmacy Application Suite”. The “vaccination services” facility is located under “claiming” in the suite and enables a pharmacist to comply with their legal obligation to notify the HSE of a shingles vaccination. There is no reimbursement for this service. In the event that a patient does not have a PPSN, then the pharmacist can satisfy their legal obligations of notifying the HSE via PCRS.VaccineRecord@hse.ie.
