Vaccination Services Update

The Department of Health requested HIQA complete a health technology assessment (HTA) to inform a decision on whether to add shingles vaccination to the adult immunisation programme. The HTA is now complete. It was found that at the current vaccine price, adding shingles vaccination to the routine immunisation schedule for all adults aged 65 years and over would not be an efficient use of resources.  The HTA report, including the statement of outcomes, plain language summary and any other information generated during this process are available on the HIQA website.
