The impact of medicine shortages extends to reference price medicines, resulting in only the higher-cost branded version being available. We understand the frustration this situation may cause. However, it is important to note that, in accordance with legislation, the GP must issue a prescription specifying ‘Do Not Substitute’ with the brand name for the branded version to be reimbursed.
